CREATING NEW TECHNOLOGIES
that enhance high-performance buildings.
Caltech’s Linde+Robinson Laboratory for Global Environmental Science is considered to be “one of the greenest laboratories located in an historic structure on the planet.” This cutting edge facility captures rainwater and stores it in an underground reservoir until needed for cooling the building. At night, the water is pumped up to the roof of the building where it is cooled naturally by nighttime temperatures and evaporative cooling.
The eVap 1500 technology allows the building to utilize this naturally cooled water for their HVAC system. In addition, the equipment is extremely beneficial in these critical laboratory spaces to cool mass spectrometers, lasers and other heat-producing analytical laboratory equipment that would normally require dedicated and inefficient process chillers—generating more heat, noise and vibration.
Caltech has recently purchased 10 of the eVap 1500 for the operation of this world class laboratory facility.
